Princess Cruises has unveiled a number of sports facilities to feature on board their new ship Royal Princess.
The 3,600-passenger ship will have a two-deck outdoor sports zone boasting a double lane jogging track, a baseball batting cage and a simulated laser shooting range.
The line’s UK director Paul Ludlow said: “Many of our passengers are very active on holiday. “These new facilities will offer them state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge classes to keep up, or even step up, their fitness routines at sea.”
Princess Sports Central, as it will be called, will revolve around a centre court that can be used for basketball, tennis, volleyball and badminton, and also a driving range facility for golfers. Plans are also in place for an indoor fitness centre, aerobics studio, and a faux grass area called the Lawn Court to be used for golf putting, bocce ball, croquet and lawn bowling.
Another nearby area, the Game Lounge, will offer such activities as table tennis and virtual gaming. Princess says Royal Princess staff will be on hand in the sports zone to organise competitions and group games.
Scheduled to debut in June 2013, the Royal Princess will be the largest Princess ship ever built and the line's first new ship since 2008.
