There’s a new player on the block, Tropicana Cruises, which will run its first seven-night cruise from Havana at the beginning of November. It’s a new concept, taking in at least four Cuban ports as well as Ochos Rios, where passengers can embark if they’d prefer that to a Havana embarkation. It’s around £880 per person for two sharing, excluding flights, even cheaper if you take a four berth cabin. For those who like to live a little dangerously, and don’t mind an older ship (the Adriana was built in 1972 and has fairly basic amenities) this may be a great chance to explore some little-known parts of Cuba.
If you prefer something a little more traditional, there’s a 14 day cruise on Thomson dream that offers two days (one overnight) in Havana, starting at £1,215 per person, two sharing, including flights.
One point to note is that Americans can’t visit Cuba without a special permit from the US government, so if you, or a member of your family, are American by citizenship, the Tropicana Cruise will also require you to organise your own permit.
