Adonia is one of the newest additions to P&O Cruises’ illustrious fleet and is also the smallest of the line’s seven ships, carrying just 710 passengers. She is the cruise line’s most intimate ship and due to her size, of just 180 metres in length, she can reach places and ports that larger vessels can’t. The idea is that Adonia will sail longer, more in-depth itineraries that visits lesser known and more intimate locations, along with the classic and popular ports of call. Adonia has eight classically styled decks, a grand staircase, and being a 21st century ship, built in 2001, there is modernity to her detailing, all of which is beautifully crafted. This traditional ship, which is for adults only, offers a cruise with real charm and elegance, which ensures guests have a relaxing and indulging stay every time they are onboard.
Entertainment onboard Adonia is perfectly designed for the adult passengers onboard. The intimate decks include the signature Crow's Nest observation lounge for the perfect nautical atmosphere and far reaching views by day and live music by night. Anderson's, which is named after the P&O founder Arthur Anderson, is a traditional club-style lounge bar, which feels reassuringly British. Not forgetting the grand lounge featuring a gorgeous inlaid wooden dance floor, which plays host to an elegant waltz or cha-cha-cha, and a stage where a range of after-dinner entertainment takes place, from shows to classical recitals. Something else that has been adapted to the tastes of Adonia’s target market is the ship's own theatre company, numerous guest lecturers and classes with themes like photography and wine-tasting.
A cruise is the perfect opportunity to treat yourself in a way that you don’t necessarily have the time to do at home, and Adonia’s spa treatments are one of the most indulgent ways to do so. The Oasis spa, which is run by the ever-present Steiner, offers restful private treatment rooms and expert therapists meaning you can switch off and give into sheer bliss. Let the experts work out those niggling knots with a massage or even detoxify your body. If you want to make yourself look and feel years younger then there are numerous treatments available, from slimming to anti-wrinkle facials. The spa isn’t just the realm of women either as they have also developed an extensive range of treatments specifically designed for men.
For those looking to stay active whilst at sea, there is a modern gym and a small studio, which offers Yoga, Pilates, spinning and stretch classes. The gym has several treadmills, exercise bikes and cross-trainers, as well as free weights. For something a little less like hard work, the Crystal Pool is the focal point of Adonia's sun deck, and is flanked by two hot tubs. The pool is overlooked by an upper deck, the Sun Deck, which has a short jogging trail, and above that is the Sky Deck, with deck quoits, shuffleboard and a golf driving net.
The P&O Adonia is graced with a great choice of dining options combining the six course silver service in the main restaurant with speciality restaurants onboard. In keeping with the Mediterranaean cruises head to Sorento's for Italian style cuisine or the Ocean Grill for a fantastic selection of seafood and great steaks.
