The Fred Olsen Braemar is a mid-sized ship, weighing 19,089 tonnes, for an intimately, traditional cruise experience The ship has huge expansive windows, good sized terraces and large open decks. Braemar is an attractive ship that features a glass walled atrium that stretches elegantly over five decks, adding to the beautifully designed lines of the exterior. Elegant and captivating describes the atmosphere that abounds on Braemar and she is perfectly suited for warm weather cruising and continues to attract plaudits. Since her major refit and lengthening procedure, Braemar now features over eighty passenger cabins and suites with balconies. She has also become the second of Fred Olsen’s ships to feature a pub, which, on occasion, offers entertainment in the form of a late night comedian or jazz.
Menus onboard the Fred Olsen Braemar are prepared to a high standard by award-winning chefs, and food is served by staff who are friendly and attentive. The main dining lounge, the Thistle restaurant, is pleasing and attractive, with large ocean-view windows on three sides. In addition to the exquisite food, is an extensive wine list which helps to compliment and complete your meals perfectly. One of the other main restaurants on board Braemar, the Grampian Restaurant is located on Marquee Deck.It is a delightful restaurant, and whether you are attending a formal night or one of the special themed nights, you will be assured of a wonderful and intimate atmosphere as you enjoy your meal. Casual breakfasts and luncheons can also be taken in the self-service buffet located in the Palms Cafe, with indoor and outdoor seating. Out on the pool deck, there is a barbecue grill for casual eating, welcome when the ship is in warm weather areas.
The fitness centre and the Atlantis Spa health and beauty salon offer a wealth of spa and fitness facilities that offer the opportunity to be as active or as laid back as you wish. There is a fully equipped fitness centre with weights, resistance machines and a large dance studio that plays host to group sessions, which allow you to keep up with your healthy lifestyle whilst onboard. However if you would rather spend your time relaxing, the Braemar's sauna and solarium provide the perfect opportunity to wind down and recharge your batteries, leaving you refreshed and looking your best to enjoy your cruise holiday. The pool deck has two pools and two Jacuzzis, which are designated as adult-only and children-only, as well as additional sunbeds.
When night falls, the Neptune Lounge transforms and a shimmering backdrop gives the stage a certain glamour as twice-nightly shows are performed, including cabaret, music and magic shows. The Braemar Show Company staff put on various singing and dancing performances throughout each cruise, which are mainly small-scale production shows and mini-musicals. No British ship would be complete without a pub, and on Braemar, it comes in the shape of the Scottish-themed Morning Light Pub, which is a welcoming spot for a drink at any time. There is also the Observatory cocktail lounge is a great place to watch the world go by with its sweeping views of the ocean and the ship's path.
