Costa Serena is a ship inspired by fun, well-being and relaxation, which is as playful as it is prodigious. As the largest in the Costa fleet, with a maximum capacity of 3,780 and weighing 114,147 tons, Serena will seduce you with her unique elegance and enticing atmosphere, boasting the title of the goddess of the sea. She is owned by Carnival Corporation and built in Italy with both the European market and European cruising in mind, which means there are many Carnival hallmarks in the layout. These include the amazing nine-story atrium lobby, the top-deck waterslide, the busy thoroughfare of Deck 5, where almost all the bars are located, and the pair of two-deck dining rooms at the centre and aft of the vessel. Cheerful colours abound both on deck and in the cabins, while her overall theme of Greek and Roman mythology is reflected in the naming of public rooms and dining areas.
The Costa Serena, which was the star of her very own TV series a short while back, is tailored to every individual requirement, which is highlighted in the exclusive Samsara Spa area. The facility is equipped with suites and cabins providing direct access to the spa area, the swimming pool, with its hydro-massage area, and the magnificent external deck boasting a giant screen and multi-language option available to all. Spa staterooms also come packaged with a number of tried and true treatments, an aroma diffuser, other related perks and private outdoor areas looking onto the solarium, where you can relax with herbal tea after your session. Samsara specialises in thalassotherapy, which are treatments that use seawater, marine mud, and other oceanic elements, to help cleanse your mind and body. Elsewhere on the ship, guests can splash in their choice of four pools, two of which feature sliding glass roofs for all-weather swimming.
Costa Serena really has everything you could possible desire in terms of entertainment, starting with the Grand Prix simulator, where you can experience the thrill of being a great racing driver, to the sports field, and the many lounges and bars. The forward end of the ship is occupied by the Teatro Giove, which is a stunning theatre, where you can see a number of comedy, magic and dance shows. The casino onboard spans the whole width of the ship, but is broken up by the disco in the middle, which has a flashing dance floor. This witty design of the disco is based around the theme of the god, Pan, and the casino itself is dedicated to the two-faced god Janus and is embellished with acres of shiny red and black.
There are two main dining rooms onboard Serena, which both span two decks. Vesta at the centre of the ship and Ceres at the aft are allocated to guests according to the location of your cabin. The lido restaurant, Prometheus, is enormous and offers a wide range of buffet meals for breakfast, lunch and tea.
