At 105,000 tons, the Costa Magica is arguably the largest ship in the Costa fleet. She is a very European looking ship, although her suites and dining arrangements approach much more the American model, which makes sense as she was launched after Carnival took over the line. Her most distinguishing feature is that all restaurants and public rooms represent Italy's most famous locales, such as Capri, Bellagio, Sicily, and Vicenza. You will know you're in for a grand experience as soon as you step into the Italia Magica Atrium and Bar, which is a stunning nine-level entrance hall with panoramic glass elevators. She is a sunny, spectacular and surprising ship with extensive outdoor decks, like the amphitheatre-shaped Maratea deck or the Positano Lido, with the greatest degree of comfort guaranteed by the sliding glass roof, making it suitable for any occasion. Following embarkation, a vast array of activities is at your fingertips.
The ship's four swimming pools, one with a waterslide, and the six available whirlpools are an example of the numerous activities and facilities onboard Magica. Those who wish to stay active on their cruise will find a fitness centre, a 140-meter jogging track, and a tennis court. The large workout room, which overlooks the bow and the vista ahead, is full of new Technogym equipment and there are also aerobics, yoga, spinning and Pilates classes. If a pampered getaway is more your type, head over to the Saturnia Spa, and treat yourself to their menu of massages and hydrotherapies. This 4,600-square-foot facility has all sorts of goodies for both men and women, including a Turkish bath, sauna, treatment rooms and beauty salon.
The Magica offers several restaurants, where top-tier chefs serve up authentic Italian cuisine. The two-level Portofino Restaurant features decorations reminiscent of the Ligurian Riviera, and the two-level Costa Smeralda Restaurant has large windows and views of the sea. The Bellagio Buffet on the Lido Deck aft is big and expansive, which is fitting for a ship this large but unusual for a Europe-based cruise. Here you will find several stations around the restaurant offering Italian specialties, international fare, grilled items and pizza. Other dining options include the Club Vicenza Restaurant and drinks are available at L'Aquila Classic Bar, Capocolonna Piano Bar, the Bar Magica Italia, and the Solarium Bar.
Almost every public room onboard Magica has entertainment of some sort or another, whether it's the pool band, individual vocalists, the classical duo in the atrium or the pianist in the Capo lounge. You can also entertain yourself by playing the slots and table games at the Sicilia Casino and card room, catching a stage show at the three-level Urbino Theater, or go for a dance at the Grado Discotheque and the Baroque-style Salento Grand Bar.
